Room For Play   

Discipline is NOT a dirty word. It is a way to approach the child so that he/she can understand why it is wrong to be doing whatever he/she is doing. I will not approach the child in a frightful manner. Instead of scolding the child like so, “I told you not to dump the pieces of the puzzle on the floor!” I would simply state “ Keep the puzzle on the table so that the pieces do not get lost.” Children need to understand the meaning of the situation and also the causes and effects of his actions. I try to prevent running by dividing the room into smaller areas, preventing the clutter and providing more choices for children when they argue over a toy.
